YWCA Canberra has provided housing support to women and the broader Canberra community for nearly 80 years, starting with the opening of Leave House in Mort St by Lady Gowrie in 1942.
We provide accommodations and support services for people who are homeless, or at risk of homelessness, through a variety of programs that take into account our clients’ varied needs.

Our domestic violence support service provides free, confidential, non-judgemental support to help women decide what steps they want to take, and then support them through those steps.
We run a range of community development activities to empower community members and create stronger and more connected communities. Our community development programs include social inclusion activities such as a Cooking Circles group, cultural and social activities, and groups and sessions to build capacity for local families and communities. We have a partnership with CIT and facilitate off-site learning projects, and deliver a Food Hub and Emergency Relief.
Network coordination for the Tuggeranong region aims to develop and promote active relationships across and between the Child, Youth and Family Services Program, all tiers of government and the broader service system including non-government community service organisations and the for-profit sector.
The Tuggeranong Network Coordination aids in the delivery of better outcomes for children, young people and their families through the identification of any unmet need and gaps in service delivery, to promote proactive responses to emerging need and build sustainable collaborative relationships between organisations.

Our team at the Mura Lanyon Youth and Community Centre provides a range of activities and programs to empower and promote community participation in Tuggeranong.
Some of the weekly activities include young mums’ programs, Scouts, playgroups, after school programs, and activities for seniors.
