Enrolling in a course

Our approach to enrolment and induction is to empower you to make informed decisions and enter a training pathway that is the right fit for you now and into the future. If you’re not certain if a course is right for you, call us on 02 6185 2000 or email training@ywca-canberra.org.au.

Depending on the course you want to enrol in, you may need to attend an information session. Upcoming sessions are on our events page.

You will need a Unique Student Identifier (USI). The government requires students undertaking nationally recognised training to provide their USI to their Registered Training Organisation.

You’ve decided to enrol

Fantastic! If there is an upcoming intake for your course, you will need to:

  1. Complete the enrolment form and any other forms requested.
  2. Supply identification documents.
  3. Undertake a language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) assessment (if required).
  4. On confirmation of enrolment, pay the initial enrolment fee.

If no intake has been scheduled, you can complete the Expression of Interest Form. We will place you on our waiting list and contact you when your chosen course is next available.

Note: If you are currently in Australia on an international student visa, you cannot undertake a course with YWCA Canberra as we are not registered with CRICOS.

Cost of training

Our Schedule of Fees and Charges outlines how we collect fees and charges for our training and assessment services. We offer training as a fee for service and through government funding.

Government funding

We offer training that may be subsidised through government funding through either ACT JobTrainer Skilled Capital or User Choice traineeships and apprenticeships.

JobTrainer Skilled Capital is an ACT Government training initiative, funded by the ACT and Australian governments. It provides subsidised training in a selection of qualifications. JobTrainer is available to eligible students wanting to undertake a nationally recognised program, but has limited places.

User Choice is a national funding policy for Australian Apprenticeships, funded by the ACT and Australian Governments. It provides subsidised apprenticeships and traineeships in a selection of qualifications. User Choice is available to eligible trainees who are undertaking a nationally recognised program and:

  • have supervision in the workplace
  • have opportunities to develop and practice new skills
  • must be released to attend off-the-job training.

Contact our Education and Training team on 02 6185 2000 or email training@ywca-canberra.org.au to check the availability of places in the program, or for more information about the course and your eligibility.
