YWCA Canberra’s qualified team of trainers and assessors deliver accredited courses and short workshops for individuals, government agencies, schools, private businesses and community organisations.

We deliver nationally accredited courses through our Registered Training Organisation (RTO National Number 1373) in early childhood and school age education and care, and women’s leadership.

We also deliver non-accredited training in preventing and managing violence against women, women’s leadership, diversity and inclusion, and gender equality.

Our team of trainers have particular expertise in working with students from diverse and complex backgrounds to achieve their full potential. We are proud of the supportive, inclusive and professional service we provide.

The She Leads Diploma of Leadership and Management provides women and non-binary people with the opportunity to gain the best-practice skills, theoretical knowledge, and networks to accelerate your leadership journey.

Take the next step in your ECEC career! The Diploma will open up your career options so you can plan, implement and manage programs in early childhood services, in accordance with licensing, accreditation and duty of care requirements.

The training teaches you to be aware of the developmental needs of children and introduces you to your roles and responsibilities in an ECEC setting. You will have opportunities to apply theories of child development in the workplace, and gain experience in interacting with children, families and your fellow workers through your practical placement.

With this qualification, you could become a centre director, an accredited trainer, work for a regulator, or even become a consultant working with services to improve their rating and assessment outcomes.

Non-accredited courses and workshops

Our Active Bystander Intervention Workshops invite workplaces to play a leadership role in preventing violence against women. Our evidence-based interactive three-hour workshop explores the link between gender inequality and violence against women. Upon completion participants will be empowered with practical tools and strategies to create safer and more respectful workplaces and communities.

Bystander approaches are the interventions that support individuals to intervene in violence, harassment or other anti-social behaviour in order to prevent and reduce harm to others. Research shows that bystander approaches are an effective way of preventing violence against women, especially domestic and family violence, sexual violence and other forms of interpersonal violence.
